The Opposition Leader warned the impact of FMD spreading in Australia would be"devastating" which was why the border should be urgently closed to Indonesia. Nationals leader David Littleproud said the mere presence of foot and mouth disease in Australia highlighted the incompetence of the government at the border.
“To simply say no we’re not going to do it because it’s going to hurt trade doesn’t give confidence in the agricultural sector and regional Australia,” he said.defended its position"These are the strongest ever measures introduced by an Australia government, ever, in terms of biosecurity when it comes to foot and mouth disease," Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told Chief Sky News Australia Political Reporter Kieran Gilbert on Sunday Agenda.
