Singtel Optus has bought the Australian rights to the FIFA Club World Cup for 2019 and 2020 for its streaming service Optus Sport, as mobile providers jostle to attract customers by investing in exclusive content. The 11-day international tournament, which is hosted by Qatar, will be shown live on the telco's app from the start of the games on December 11.
Optus director of sport Richard Bayliss said the telco had more than 700,000 active subscribers to the service."Broadcasting Liverpool's sixth Champions League triumph was a massive moment for Optus Sport, and it will be a privilege for us to show the Reds' attempt to overcome the best of South America, Asia, North America and Africa," he said.
