Fire crews are battling a major blaze which has burnt through the night in southern Western Australia.

The blaze is threatening homes and lives near Waroona and has burnt through the night.Fire crews in Western Australia are battling an "out of control and unpredictable" bushfire which is threatening lives and homes in the state's south-west.

Strong easterly winds along the escarpment fanned the flames as it tore in a north-westerly direction on Saturday afternoon after sparking in an area of forest west of Nanga townsite.A Watch and Act warning is place for those in area west of Hilla Waters Road and south of Woodside Road, bounded by Tallathalla Road to the north, South Western Highway to the west, Peel Road, Scarp Road and Nanga Brook Road to the south and Nanga Road to the east in for parts of Waroona and Nanga Brook.

It's the third emergency level bushfire in the state this week with two others in the metropolitan area.
