A group of campers remain stranded at an outback campsite near Mount Isa, with surrounding waters set to continue rising after authorities rescued two mothers and three infants.

Dozens of campers at a remote outback camping spot have been cut off by floodwaters.The Bureau of Meteorology predicts the waters surrounding the campers will continue to rise.

Two mothers and three infants were rescued and transported back to Mount Isa by the Queensland Ambulance Service as a precaution.Mount Isa resident Eve Medforth was camping at the popular spot with 12 friends when they woke to find their swags were floating. "The little bit of high ground they were on turned into an island. It's still an island and most of them are still there just waiting for the waters to recede," he said.
