Olson made his major league debut on June 2. In six starts, he has a 5.06 ERA over 26⅔ innings. He has made three relief appearances.Right-hander Seth Lugo starts for the Padres, coming off a tough outing in Philadelphia on Sunday in which he allowed five runs in 5⅓ innings. He yielded one hit and threw just 49 pitches in the first four innings before allowing a solo homer in the fifth and another homer and three more runs in the sixth.
Lugo has never faced the Tigers, and has faced just three of their current players. Javier Baez is 3-for-9 with a home run against him. Zach McKinstry is 0-for-1. Matt Vierling hit a sacrifice fly in his only plate appearance against Lugo.
