Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has urged residents to wear masks while indoors but stopped short of introducing a mandate as COVID-19 hospitalisations jumped above 1,000.
The Sunshine State recorded 11,687 new infections and 10 deaths on Thursday as COVID-related hospitalisations rose to 1,034, with 21 people in intensive care.

Residents have also been warned flu cases are also on the rise with Queensland recording 161 new infections on Thursday.
