In a surprise appearance, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has been spotted in the Public Gallery with her boyfriend during the 47th Parliament’s first Question Time.

Parliament will also no longer sit during the school holidays, which was another recommendation in the Jenkins Review.

Under the new amendments, once a minister pronounces a bill as urgent speaking times will be reduced from 15 to 10 minutes and debate will continue until 10pm. Voting would then occur immediately the following morning. While in Canberra, Ms Palaszczuk met with Japan’s Ambassador to Australia, according to a social media post.

“I expressed my condolences again to the Ambassador and people of Japan for the passing of Shinzo Abe.”
