However, unions and public health experts have warned that without paid pandemic leave people, such as Australia’s 2.4 million casual workers, simply cannot afford to comply with the public health orders requiring them to isolate. Amid these mixed demands for action, Albanese on Thursday said he had “inherited” the timetable for ending the subsidies from the Morrison government but so far it seems the new Labor government has no plans to reinstate them.
