Parents and pupils of Walton-le-Dale High School have been left angered by the council's decision not to support a vital bus service

A group of 70-strong parents and pupils attended a council meeting this week to express their fury over a school bus service cancellation and heard that no funding or help will be provided.

16-year-old Tillie Delaney, a pupil at Walton-le-Dale High School, then spoke at the meeting, hoping to get across her grievances towards the issue of the bus service cancellation. She said: "[I thought] it went good, because they obviously saw what it was like for me and all that and it would be hard for me to get to school.

As well as pupils, parents are also extremely angry with the outcome of the meeting, expressing their fury over their children potentially not having a route to school. "Jeopardising them to encounter possible childhood trauma of serious abuse or serious harm. Furthermore causing our children to potentially develop childhood ACE'S, in an area where childhood ACE'S are already one of the highest in the country.

"To have this taken away from us has left us with the stress and anxiety of wondering how my child will be safe. I am disgraced at our council." Another frustrated parent, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been left angered by the decision due to her son's personal circumstances. In Year 10, he suffers with ADHD and mental health issues.
