Pearland ISD's second annual Big Art Day on March 25 will feature theatrical performances, food trucks and a 6,000-square-foot piece of chalk artwork that will be created on the site by students from the district's secondary schools.
Students and parents across Pearland ISD gathered at the district's first Big Art Day last year at the Pearland Town Center, 11200 Broadway. The free event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pearland Town Center pavilion, 11200 Broadway, is targeted toward the district's parents and students, but everyone is invited, Pearland ISD Fine Arts Coordinator Victor Raygoza said. Visitors can create their own art at make-and-take stations led by local art teachers. Pearland and Dawson high school theater students will be onstage at the pavilion performing scenes from"Matilda" and"Descendants: the Musical."Students in kindergarten through sixth grade can participate in a coloring contest in which the top three winners will receive gift baskets with art supplies.
Announcers for the event will be Superintendent Larry Berger and Natasha Tennison, the CEO and founder of Gathering Outreach Community Services.
