The Dallas City Council approved close to $358,000 to repair and stabilize the base structure as well as work to fix corrosion also on a rooftop crane needed...
Council approval for repair work came after about an hour and a half of debate among council members who initially disagreed over whether they should delay a vote to get the hotel owners to foot part of the bill and further vet the costs.
Photos from the City of Dallas show corrosion on the steel structure that holds the Pegasus sign at the top of the downtown Magnolia Hotel. City officials told elected leaders that emergency repairs were needed to make sure the sign didn't fall from the building due to the failing support structure. But the city attorney’s office said the city didn’t ensure that future hotel owners help with the sign repairs. The office said Wednesday that the current hotel owners have no obligation to help pay for its maintenance.
