There was a “lull” in the Alice Springs crime crisis around February and March; however, in the last two weeks, the high crime levels have returned, says Alice Springs Mayor Matt Paterson.

“We’re seeing cars again driving through erratically – stolen vehicles,” he told Sky News Australia.

“Police again told people to avoid our CBD early in the morning because they couldn’t control the kids – I feel really sorry for the police, they do an amazing job, but they just don’t have enough resources.”
