NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller says whenever police have had the lead in New South Wales "we've got the job done" amid impending border lockdowns between the state and Victoria. Hundreds of NSW Police officers will be sent to the border in a bid to stop Melbourne's second coronavirus wave spreading north.

The closure - which will take effect from midnight - is expected to pose problems for twin-city communities such as Albury-Wodonga. "I feel as though the approach NSW Police have been a fair and reasonable one," Commissioner Fuller told Sky News host Alan Jones. He said in terms of the border towns, there will be an "enormous amount of discretion for people" in those towns to cross.
