The New South Wales Premier admitted he was disappointed that controversy surrounding John Barilaro's $500,000-a-year overseas appointment could overshadow his first trade mission to Japan, Korea and India.

The Premier officially opened the Investment NSW office in Tokyo on Thursday, on the first leg of his 10-day trade tour to Japan, Korea and India.

Picture: James O'Doherty “But I don’t want to give a running commentary because the more running commentary I give, the less confidence that provides.” Mr Perrottet embarked on his 10-day trade mission to Japan, South Korea and India in an effort to spruik the state and attract global investment.

The Premier will then head to the South Korean capital of Seoul before he is joined by Trade Minister Stuart Ayres in India.
