“Information that has come to light in the review clearly demonstrates that the process was not at arm’s length,” Mr Perrottet said.“In my view, no such breach has occurred,” Mr Ayres said. “I have always applied the highest levels of integrity in my conduct as a minister.
Ms Brown will return to an upper house committee on Wednesday to be grilled over the appointment process that has triggered an outcry over appearances of jobs-for-mates and preferential treatment of former MPs.She has already been questioned by the committee but was recalled to appear for a full-day hearing after secret documents last week revealed some of the extent of Mr Ayres’ involvement.
“While I’ve not received the full report, I have seen an excerpt of the draft report that pertains to Mr Ayers and made the appropriate decision.”The premier has not said what section of the ministerial code of conduct the alleged breach by Mr Ayres relates to, but said it regarded the level of interaction he had with the department over the hiring process.
