Dominic Perrottet has dismissed criticism of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s perceived lack of involvement in the New South Wales floods disaster.

Mr Perrottet defended the Prime Minister who has been criticised for his absence during the natural disaster as he wraps up his European diplomatic tour which included a visit to war-torn Kyiv.

“I won't go into where he was, from an operational perspective, but he called me yesterday and as soon as he could. The Albanese Government on Monday night declared a natural disaster in 23 local government areas as many communities faced a fourth round of floods in just 18 months. Mr Perrottet said the involvement of the two senior ministers was “important” and praised the level of engagement between both levels of government.

“From my perspective as Premier, the engagement has been open, positive, and providing anything they can do to assist us.”
