A father has suffered serious injuries when he was struck to the head with a hammer while investigating a disturbance at a unit complex in Perth ’s northeast. The alleged attack, on a shared driveway on Arbon Way in Lockridge about 2am on Thursday, left a 41-year-old man in Royal Perth Hospital with a fractured skull and jaw. “There was a scream, a lady’s voice crying, there were kids screaming, terrified to the max,” one neighbour said.

Residents called triple-0 while a nurse provided first aid to the injured father of two. “ to the victim’s wife shortly after he was taken away via ambulance,” one witness said. “The grip she had on my arm, I will never forget.” The accused, a 43-year-old man from Lockridge, also smashed his way through a different neighbour’s window and had a physical altercation with a male occupant, police allege.
