Cooper was believed to be the No. 1 for most of his tenure with the Cowboys. However questionable availability and a habit of disappearing in big games led to Cooper’s status as a primary being in doubt, especially when Lamb was drafted. Both of them landed in, but the stark contrast of where they were ranked may please Cowboys fans.
Here’s PFF’s Anthony Treash’s analysis of Lamb: “Lamb was pigeonholed to the slot as a rookie in 2020 but was given an outside job in 2021, where he showcased his best play. Lined up out wide last season, the former Oklahoma Sooner was the sixth-highest-graded receiver in the NFL. Cooper, on the other hand, was placed at the top of Tier 4 at No. 22, far from where the elite primary options and closer to the Seahawks’ Tyler Lockett and the Chargers’ Mike Williams.
