Police say the 78-year-old pilot was on his way to 'have a coffee' with a friend when his aircraft crashed in North East Victoria causing a power outage to more than 20 properties.
A 78-year-old man has been taken to hospital and 22 properties have lost power after a light plane clipped a electricity line and crashed on a rural property in North East Victoria.Ausnet is expecting to restore power to homes in the area by 9pm on Monday evening, and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it will not be investigating the incident as it was a recreational flight.
Paramedics were called to the property about 1:25pm after the light aircraft clipped a power line at the Boland Road property, before crashing into the ground and folding in half. They said the farmer was woken up by dogs barking and cows "going nuts" after the accident, before the pilot called to say he had crashed.
