The chief executive of the Northern Territory's peak Aboriginal health body says the NT is opening up its vulnerable communities to undue risk as the Territory Government resists a hard border closure with Victoria.
its quarantine rules on July 17, when all people entering the Northern Territory who have been in a hotspot will be forced to undergo a 14-day mandatory supervised quarantine period at approved Government facilities.
Mr Paterson said it would take one person from outside the NT to create a "catastrophe" in vulnerable communities. "We can't wait. Let's take a leaf out of NSW and other states that are implementing the closure to the border of Victoria effective immediately," he said Mr Paterson said recent examples of self-isolation non-compliance — with seven more fines issued by Northern Territory Police on Monday following aof incidents last week — showed the Government's current quarantine measures were inadequate.
