Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has spoken to Donald Trump following his resounding US Presidential Election win.
Anthony Albanese has spoken to Donald Trump following his US election win after earlier congratulating the 78-year-old on the victory and pledging to work closely with the new administration.
"The other thing the Prime Minister has to navigate though is not just his own personal relationship but that of Kevin Rudd and the ambassador has been much more critical of Donald Trump than Mr Albanese has." “I once again want to reiterate my congratulations to President Trump on his election victory,” Mr Albanese said.
“President Trump has run a campaign based on change and he has made it clear he is going to do things differently, so we shouldn’t be surprised as things change,” Mr Albanese said. During Thursday’s press conference, Mr Albanese said he would not apologise and reiterated he looked forward to working with Trump.
Mr Albanese’s press conference comes amid a slew of responses from political leaders to the news Trump will return to the White House, including Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.
