Speaking at RFS headquarters in NSW, the Prime Minister says with benefit of hindsight he would have made a different decision about his holiday, apologising for any upset he caused.

"I have returned from leave and I know that [my holiday] has caused some great anxiety in Australia, and Jenny and I acknowledge that," he said.

"If you had your time over again and you had the benefit of hindsight then would have [sic] made different decisions."Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese has said while he did not have an issue with Mr Morrison taking a pre-Christmas break, there had been a lack of transparency throughout the process.

Mr Morrison today said while he had followed the usual protocol surrounding private leave, changes would be implemented for the next trip. "There have been lessons learned this week and they will be imported and included next time," he said.
