Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Attorney General Christian Porter have released a new draft of the Religious Discrimination act after the first bill failed to garner support.

Under the new laws, the definition of a 'religious body' - with the ability to hire and fire staff on religious grounds - will be expanded. The legislation also provided stronger protection for faith-based groups, and provided clarification on the definition of 'vilify'. The overhaul of the initial bill came after major backlash from religious groups, multicultural communities and faith-based businesses.
