Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is set to be interrogated about his ties to Qantas during Question Time as the opposition seeks to investigate the escalating flight upgrade scandal.
that Mr Albanese received more than 20 flight upgrades from the airline and even solicited upgrades directly from former CEO Alan Joyce .
Shadow finance minister Jane Hume told Sky News on Monday morning the opposition was not finished with this issue despite Mr Albanese’s consistent denials of wrongdoing. The opposition has signalled a key area of enquiry will be the Albanese government’s decision in 2023 to block Qatar Airways from flying more international flights into Australia in a move that would have reduced flight fares and increased competition with Qantas.
When asked by ABC radio on Monday morning if his office had sought upgrades on his behalf, he replied"not to my knowledge". As often happens with perks received by politicians, the scandal has cast a shadow over both sides of the aisle.
