The shadow treasurer has accused Anthony Albanese of prioritising the Voice to Parliament referendum over Australians struggling with the cost of living.
The proposed constitutional amendment was resoundingly rejected by the public in Saturday's referendum with more than 60 per cent of Australians voting No.
Angus Taylor took aim at the Prime Minister during Question Time on Thursday, pressing him on the choice to pursue the “divisive” proposal. “Why did the Prime Minister prioritise a divisive referendum over Australians struggling with the cost of living?” The Labor leader pointed to the gender pay gap sitting at a record low of 13 per cent and the reported decrease in industrial disputes.
While inflation has eased from its peak of 8.4 per cent in December last year, the Reserve Bank of Australia has just presided over its fastest tightening cycle in decades. , with experts fearing breakout of war between Israel and Hamas could restrict shipments and push up oil prices even further.as the situation in the Middle East continues to deteriorate.
