Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine has made Russia a global pariah – and Beijing should take note, says Anthony Albanese.
, Mr Albanese said Ukraine “had shown attempts to impose change by force on a sovereign country meets resistance”.“Also, that determination of countries which share common values and a commitment to that rules-based international order have been brought together.”
Mr Albanese said that, as prime minister, he had no option but to travel to NATO and other such summits. He is still weighing up whether to visit Ukraine before flying home, with the decision to be based on security advice. “We’d consider requests but are making sure the commitments that have been made have been delivered,” he said.
The attendance of the Asia-Pacific Four will introduce an Indo-Pacific focus, while host nation Spain wants NATO to focus on the southern flank to address migration and militant groups in the Sahel region of Africa.
