It's part of a crime crackdown in Tameside
Thursday, December 22, is the latest day in action for Operation Avro — an initiative by Greater Manchester Police to launch a specific crackdown on crime in one district per month. Today’s activity is focused on Tameside.
This morning, officers have already secured a result by ‘executing’ a warrant on a premises. It took an angle-grinder for officers to get in, but the results were startling. READ MORE:Horrifying moment man grabbed cat, 'cartwheeled' her in the air and smashed her to the floor “A series of warrants were executed this morning as part of Operation AVRO in Tameside,” a tweet from the force just after 9am said. “We were up early, angle grinding doors, [and] officers uncovered a cannabis farm and weapons including a shotgun and cartridges. Today is the day we seek out criminals across the whole of Tameside.”
Footage shared with the tweet showed cops taking power tools to a metal door, behind which was a huge cannabis farm. There were also shotgun cartridges in the address, and a firearm.
