A 32-year-old Burwood East man has been seriously injured when he was stabbed in an alleged ambush in Melbourne ’s east. He was walking home from work when a car pulled up next to him on Mahoneys Rd at Forest Hill about 10.10pm last Thursday, Victoria Police said on Monday. “The offender called the victim a ‘dog’ and a ‘rat’, then demanded his phone,” police said.
The victim was able to alert a family member and was taken to hospital, where he remains. Now, locals are being urged to check their CCTV and dashcam footage to help police track down the offender. “Motorists in the area at the time with dashcam in their vehicles ... may have inadvertently captured the offending vehicle,” police said. Footage of a suspect vehicle has been released by Victoria Police, who hope other locals may have “captured elements of the incident”.
