Over the seven days, 54 young people and one adult were charged with a total of 221 offences, including stealing cars and breaking into homes.
Cairns police worked alongside Taskforce Guardian between November 5 and 12 to prevent and investigate the major spike in youth offending in the area.

Among the arrests were four boys aged between 14 and 17 who were apprehended in the Cairns suburb of Maroona on November 9. The teenagers were arrested after allegedly running from a stolen Kio Rio which police say had been taken from Whitfield earlier that day.Police also referred several young people to support services and agencies and located one missing person over the week.Cairns police worked alongside Taskforce Guardian in the youth crime crackdown.
