Victoria Police have charged seven men with affray, three years after their alleged involvement in a large Melbourne pub fight in which teenager Patrick Cronin was killed.
The seven men charged today are all in their thirties and from the outer north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Mr Cronin's parents, Matt and Robyn Cronin, released a short statement to the media after the charges were laid in which they said they lived with the loss of their son"every day". "Christmas should be a time of celebration for the family and here we are more than three years later, and we still haven't received closure," the statement said."This is why we've set up the Pat Cronin Foundation — to educate and make people aware that these acts of cowardly violence should never be tolerated.
"We're pleased to see charges being laid today. We know we need to wait for the right process to follow, but we look forward to an outcome."
