Melbourne could see its biggest protest in more than two decades next month with upwards of 20,000 demonstrators expected to target a defence expo.
Police have sent a warning to demonstrators as Melbourne braces for the city's biggest protest in more than 20 years.
The protest activity under the umbrella of Disrupt Land Forces is tipped to rival the S11 protests which occurred in Melbourne in 2000 during the World Economic Forum. "It could be really, really big. I mean, we've been comparing it to potential World Economic Forum which we had in 2000, which saw significant protests," he said.
Mr Patton said there would be a large police presence at the South Wharf site where the expo will take place to deal with the"very well organised" protesters. "I can assure you we're very advanced in our planning and we believe that we'll be able to deal with the matters."
