The stolen car takes the front off the other vehicle but continues through the intersection, appearing to clip another car on the way. "A silver Volkswagen Passat was being pursued by a stolen white Toyota RAV4 through the Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Coburg areas, and witnesses reported hearing gun shots," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.Police are hoping anyone who witnessed the chase or crashes will contact Crime Stoppers.

"It appears an occupant of the Toyota fires several shots in the direction of the Volkswagen," the spokesperson said.The Volkswagen was found on New Year's Eve with a shattered rear windscreen, the spokesperson said, which investigators believed was gunshot damage.
