While there's some reprieve from the Australian bushfire crisis this week, rising from the embers are questions for our politicians and there is no longer any willingness to accept the response "now is not the time."
Carbon emissions, hazard reduction, the role of the Commonwealth and the states, where the Australian Defence Force fits in – it's all on the table now. On Sunday morning Prime Minister Scott Morrison sat down for an interview with David Speers on the ABC. The Prime Minister's rhetoric over the weeks has shifted, especially on the role of climate change in exacerbating this crisis, but Mr Morrison is still firmly against introducing a price on carbon.
