The Vatican has released an update on the health of Pope Francis, who remains in hospital after being admitted last week.
The Vatican has described Pope Francis ' health condition as a"complex" situation as the head of the Catholic Church remains in hospital.
A"polymicrobial infection of the respiratory tract" has now affected the Pope on top of"bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis" and requires cortisone antibiotic therapy, which"makes therapeutic treatment more complex". “A follow-up chest CT scan, to which the Holy Father was subjected this afternoon—prescribed by the Vatican medical team and the medical staff of the “A. Gemelli” Polyclinic Foundation—revealed the onset of bilateral pneumonia, requiring additional pharmacological therapy.The Vatican said the Pope had spent his time resting, praying and reading. He thanked the public for the support and asked that people continue to pray for him.
