Testing is now underway to rule out the presence of the deadly naegleria fowleri, commonly known as the "brain-eating amoeba".An alert has been issued that naegleria amoeba had been found in the water at Drakesbrook Weir. "Testing has indicated the presence of Naegleria amoeba in the water. The Shire is now awaiting results to rule out the presence of naegleria fowleri, the organism responsible for amoebic meningoencephalitis, commonly referred to as amoebic meningitis," the shire said.
