NSW Police charged 19 people under state anti-protest laws including for blocking a roadway and allegedly causing disruption near a major facility at Port Botany in Sydney’s east at about 9.30pm on Sunday.Hundreds of protesters took part in the rally outside the entrance of Patrick Terminals to demand state and federal governments exclude Israeli company ZIM from Australian ports and implementNSW Police said officers responded to an “unauthorised protest” at Port Botany at 6.
ZIM’s vessel, the Ganges, is still docked at Patrick’s terminal. There was no disruption to its unloading and protestors only blocked the road for a very limited time. A group called unionists for Palestine said that “the broader union movement need to mobilise to defend the MUA, all activists arrested and to increase the pressure for sanctions on Israel”.
