Premier Jacinta Allan says she asked Mr Cheeseman to resign on Monday after further allegations of misconduct were brought to her attention.
MP Darren Cheeseman has resigned from the Parliamentary Labor Party following further allegations of misconduct.
The development comes after Mr Cheeseman was initially asked by Premier Jacinta Allan to resign from his role as Parliamentary Secretary for Education on Friday, before being removed from the caucus entirely on Monday. "After enquiries by my office, and in consultation with my colleagues, tonight I asked the Member for South Barwon to resign as a member of the Parliamentary Labor Party — and he has done so.
"I determined that the information that was before me did not meet the standards that not only I expect personally, but the standards that I uphold with the responsibility to enforce the ministerial code of conduct," she said.
