He'd earlier missed pole for the sprint by just 0.011 of a second. 🤯 Oscar Piastri has arrived in Formula 1. 👏 F1 9WWOS

Despite having to overtake the Alfa Romeo of Zhou Guanyu on his out lap, Piastri used the tyre advantage perfectly to take the lead when Verstappen pitted, and in doing so became the first rookie in over a decade to lead an F1 race.Perhaps unsurprisingly, he was unable to pull away from Verstappen.

"The last three weekends we've had, it's been pretty special compared to where we have been, so I can't think them enough for this car. In a race that had already been reduced from 15 to 11 laps due to the weather and extra formation laps, Piastri said he thought the safety car was to his advantage. "I felt like I got a decent restart, and then I looked at the top of Eau Rouge and he was basically on top of me already. I couldn't keep him behind on the straight."
