Anthony Albanese has defended his overseas travel during a flood crisis, saying he has not had a day off in a long time and his government wasn’t a “one-person show”.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese toured damaged residential areas in Irpin on the outskirts of Kyiv on Sunday.Thousands have residents have been evacuated in parts of NSW after warnings were first issued on the weekend, with western Sydney the hardest area hit, while 23 local government areas have been declared natural-disaster zones.
“The catchments of course are full, and that means that even when the rains starts to ease, the danger will not ease for some period of days as floodwaters continue to rise,” he said, adding 20,000 homes were without power.
