Multi-billion-dollar US toy company Mattel has recalled a range of children’s toys over fears the products could pose “a risk of serious injury or death from choking” due to a design flaw. Product Safety Australia issued the recall for the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures sold as part of the Fisher-Price Little People Mickey and Friends figure pack. PSA said the reason for the recall lay in the non-compliance with mandatory safety standards for young children up to 36 months of age.

This is due to children being able to remove the heads of the toys, which, once detached, cause a serious “risk of injury or death from choking”. “Consumers should immediately stop using the Donald Duck and Daisy Duck figures and keep them out of reach of children,” the regulator said. “Return the affected figures to the place of purchase, or contact Mattel Consumer Relations, to receive a refund.” The toys were sold nationally and online between June 7, 2023 and November 14 2023.
