'We have only had delays and excuses but no changes.' Major NSW events are at risk of not going ahead with paramedics refusing to be on standby, as part of a strike against the government's public sector pay offer. 9News MORE:

But the Health Services Union has rejected the offer after a stop-work meeting and is now set to strike.HSU delegate and paramedic Tess Oxley said it is disappointing the government hasn't recognised health workers for what they provide to the system and state.

Oxley said HSU union member paramedics won't be attending NSW sporting events as health workers unless there is a triple zero call. "Quite often while some paramedics are doing it on their days off as an extra duty if they're not available then ambulances that are responding are taken away from the community, they're ambulances that are determined that are needed for normal triple zero jobs and instead they're contracted ambulances at sporting events," she said.
