The Community Justice Centre (CJC) program, a public mediation service that has been resolving disputes at no cost for 40 years, is unexpectedly closing without prior inquiry or consultation. The public mediation service known as the Community Justice Centre ( CJC ) program, providing free conflict resolution services for 40 years, has been unexpectedly closed without prior inquiry or consultation. Graeme Gibson highlights that neighbours will now have to seek private mediation for disputes or forego resolution altogether. The CJC , known for its success rate of around 80%, aimed to ensure win-win outcomes rather than win-lose scenarios typical of court decisions.
The program, which addressed matters such as noise issues, trees, fences, small claims court disputes, family feuds, and community conflicts, will cease to operate by June 30, 2025
