ICPA QLD President Tammie Irons says it would be devastating for families if children from boarding schools were unable to get exemptions to cross the Queensland border and stay with their families for school holidays.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk extended the border bubble on Friday, citing it would allow boarders to get home, however there are still roughly two hundred children as young as 11 which that bubble doesn’t reach.

“It’s a small group of kids and we think that they definitely deserve the same opportunities as anyone else to see their families,” Ms Irons said. “We’re hearing from parents every day, there’s just so much angst around how unfair it is. “This isn’t a political issue, our children are not a football, I should be the children’s best interests at heart here.” Image: Getty
