The Russian leader was speaking at a televised session of his human rights council and was responding to a comment about Ukraine shelling areas of the Russian-controlled Donetsk region.Mr Putin spoke with his human rights council via video-conference on Wednesday. He also complained that Western rights organisations viewed Russia as "a second-class country that has no right to exist at all"."There can be only one answer from our side - a consistent struggle for our national interests," he said.Mr Putin said the country would accomplish this by "various ways and means", and that it would firstly focus on "peaceful means".
