President Vladimir Putin is offering a one-off payment to Russian mothers who have given birth to 10 or more children as a way to address the country's demographic crisis.
The award scheme, known as Mother Heroine, will see the women receive a one-off payment of one million rubles after their 10th child's first birthday.
Russian politics and security expert Dr Jenny Mahers described the Russian reward scheme a"pretty desperate" move in an interview on Times Radio. "So, this is obviously an attempt to encourage Russian women, or inspire them, to have more babies and to have really big families.
