Qatar Airways planes will once again be a regular sight at Canberra Airport after the airline confirmed it was returning to Australia's capital city.
"We are delighted to be able to serve Canberra once again," Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said. "Whether travelling for business, government services or leisure, our commitment to Australia, and to Canberra, is one that we know will bring much needed healthy competition to the market and greater choice for passengers."
It came after the ACCC last month granted interim authorisation allowing tickets to be sold on 28 new weekly flights between Doha and Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Qatar Airways remains restricted to 28 weekly services to the four major Australian airports, with the restriction not applicable to Canberra Airport.
