Deputy Premier Steven Miles said while the World Health Organisation had declared an emergency overnight for the virus, there was “no cause for alarm here in Queensland”.
Acting Chief Health Officer Peter Aitken said the international declaration was a precaution.
They also announced that the state recorded 5800 COVID cases in the 24 hours to Sunday morning, down from 7644 the day before.
