A parliamentary committee has revealed part of the costs taxpayers have incurred in court action by former deputy premier Jackie Trad against the anti-corruption watchdog.

The move left the committee unable to even form a quorum for the meeting, in a situation that was described by its LNP chair, Jon Krause, as “extraordinary” and was criticised by former Labor Speaker John Mickel.Palaszczuk confirmed in March that Trad was covered by an indemnity scheme enabling the former minister to have her costs met by the government in her court action against the CCC last year to suppress a so-far unpublished report into the recruitment of a senior Treasury official.

Since then, the CCC spent $74,137 on external legal fees to May 5 this year for advice, the preparation of written submissions, and appearances at hearings. A further $1468 was spent on court transcripts.Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk faced a barrage of questions on the matter during budget week parliamentary sittings on Thursday and Friday.
