Double-dosed Queenslanders who are identified as close contacts will only be required to self-isolate for seven days from Wednesday, while unvaccinated residents exposed to coronavirus must continue to complete two weeks in quarantine.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk took to Twitter to announce the changes for close and casual contacts will come into effect at 1am on Wednesday.

Close contacts who have received two doses of a coronavirus vaccine must quarantine for a week, go for a PCR swab immediately and then again on day five. They are allowed to leave self-isolation eight days after exposure as long as their test results are negative but should use precautionary measures and avoid high-risk settings for another week.
