The Queen was again the star of her own party as she appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant
The royal standard had been raised above Buckingham Palace during the Platinum Jubilee Pageant celebrations on Sunday, meaning the Queen was in residence – and she didn’t disappoint, appearing on the balcony to the delight of fans.
The 260-year-old gilded carriage – not seen on the capital’s street for 20 years – was flanked by guardsmen on horseback and featured archival footage of the monarch. Guardsmen, Gurkhas, Royal Marines and the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in their breastplates and plumed feathers were among the hundreds of servicemen and women who led the way marching along the streets.Millions of Britons gathered for patriotic street parties, picnics and barbecues on Sunday, with more than 85,000 Big Jubilee Lunches being held across the United Kingdom.
